KPNZ

KPNZ is an independent television station serving the Salt Lake City, Utah television market. Ownership of the Los Angeles-based Liberman Broadcasting broadcast a wide range of Spanish-language programming.

History

The station signed on in 1998 as KAZG, what happened in Salt Lake City Market UPN affiliate, which will replace the former affiliate KJZZ TV in January 2001. This change came as the result of several factors, primarily disagreement about the affiliate fees preventive conditions, which KJZZ property, such as lack of financial sustainability of cities and thematic programs in Salt Lake City market. In October 2000, KJZZ national headlines when he claimed the right to terminate the contract if UPN UPN increased their “urban / ethnic programming” for more than two hours a week. 30th May 2007, Utah Communications, Ltd., licensed KPNZ filed FCC to sell Liberman radio, television, which focuses mainly on Spanish radio and television. The sale is completed 30th of November 2007. [1] After Lieberman took over, he still sent in English only until February 2008, when it was officially transferred the Spanish-language programming.

14th September 2009 KPNZ Liberman and other TV stations, the new R & O U.S. Spanish language network, Estrella TV. The new network began broadcasting on digital subchannels selected stations owned by Belo Corporation, Sunbeam Television, Hearst Television, radio and ComCorp Tribune and selected cells then owned by the publisher Pappas, who was sold to New World TV Group (d / b / Titan Broadcasting Group) after launch.
Digital TV

When he got the original construction permit after the FCC finalized the DTV allocation plan for the 21st April 1997 [2], the station did not receive a companion channel for digital television stations. Instead of, or before the 12th June 2009, which is at the end of the period, the digital TV conversion for the full pumping KPNZ have to shut down their analog signals and back into a digital signal (called “flash-cut”).
Legal battle

In May 2005, fired staff, Director and Accounting Manager Brad Brewer of KPNZ for embezzlement. Shortly thereafter, in July 2005, Mr. Brewer, director Kurt Gentry and Transport Manager Bonnie Dunn was originally arrested in Salt Lake City police charged with theft, fraud and forgery. Charges against the Gentry dropped after the investigating authority Salt Lake District Attorney. Dunn charges were dismissed in court as well. Brewer was charged with 31 counts of independent and has since settled. All charges were dropped or dismissed. The circumstances of his arrest and removal KPNZ is still unclear, but many legends have been published associates, former employees and customers.
